Apple hosted its September event for the iPhone 14 series, Apple Watch models, and the new AirPods Pro. The company is now rumored to hold another event in October for the launch of new premium products. There won’t be a new iPhone, but Apple plans to launch new MacBook machines alongside the iPad lineup in October. At the event in October, Apple is likely to launch the 14-inch MacBook Pro along with the 16-inch variant.
Part of the information comes from a DigiTimes report , which doesn’t mention any specifics. The report states that Apple will launch new MacBook Pro models during the fourth quarter of 2022. Since the 13-inch MacBook Pro has already received an update this year with the M2 chip, one can only expect Apple to launch the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro. -inch variant of its MacBook lineup.
Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch, 16-inch Launch Tipped
Apple may launch two new MacBook Pro machines with 14-inch and 16-inch displays and the new M2 Pro and M2 Max SoCs this year. The company hasn’t officially confirmed any details but DigiTimes claims that the new MacBook Pro machines are indeed coming this year.
Earlier, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg claimed that Apple’s 14-inch and 16-inch Pro MacBooks are in development and testing phase. The tipster claimed that both the models are powered by the new M2 Pro and M2 Max chipsets. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously said that the new machines will have very few new features on top of the powerful SoCs.
The design is likely to remain the same. This means the MacBook Pros will have flatter edges for the chassis, a notch at the top of the display for the webcam, multiple ports, etc.
It is currently unknown whether the new M2 Pro and M2 Max chips will be built on the 3nm process and are ready for commercial use. If not, Apple may launch its new chipsets based on the 5nm process. Even though the chipsets will be based on a 5nm process, they are expected to get performance and efficiency gains, courtesy of TSMC’s new 5nm process N5P.
