Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 14 lineup in the coming months. A couple of months back, famous Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that the only iPhone 14 Pro models will get the new A16 chip. While the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will be powered by last year’s A15 Bionic. Now, a new report by TrendForce reiterates the same. The research firm says that Apple will introduce 4 models this year. However, this time, the brand is said to bring in a new Max model which will replace the Mini model.
As per a report by TrendForce, Apple will introduce four new iPhone 14 models in the second half of this year. The report suggests that iPhone 14 Pro models will be equipped with the latest chip, presumably the A16 Bionic chip. The report corroborates past speculations made by known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Kuo earlier indicated that while the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max in the lineup would come with the A16 Bionic chip, the iPhone 14 models would use the same A15 SoC that power the iPhone 13 series.
Chip Storage or Marketing Strategy?
The reason back Apple using A15 on iPhone 14 models is not clear. However, analysts believe that this could be due to a chip shortage. Due to this, Apple is giving priority to the Pro models by keeping the new chip exclusive to those. Apple has been following similar practices for a while now.
Recently, the renders of the iPhone 14 Pro surfaced on the web revealing that Apple is finally upgrading the display panel and the notch that Apple introduced with iPhone X back in 2017 is finally going away. Instead, Apple will introduce a new display design with dual punch holes, a pill-shaped and a circular punch hole.
