The XUV500 is currently Mahindra’s flagship model selling in India. Presently Mahindra is all set to launch the facelifted 2018 Mahindra XUV500 in India. And now, we finally have pictures of the XUV500 facelift undisguised. While the pictures are already out, Mahindra has not communicated a date yet for the launch of the 2018 XUV500 facelift.

You know what, all the leaks and sightings have built a fair amount of hype, and by now, we even know almost every bit of what is going to be new in the facelifted XUV500 2018.

Pricing and Launch

The current Mahindra XUV500 is priced in the range of Rs 12.71 lakh – 18.82 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai).  Since it will be a minor upgrade, the new generation model is expected to cost a premium, and be priced at about Rs. 30,000 more than the present generation SUV, depending on the variant that you opt for.

The Mahindra XUV500 should be launched sometime in the second half of 2018. Bookings and deliveries should simultaneously open soon. For more updates stay tuned with us.

Design

From the photographs, it can be seen that there are quite a few updates to the exterior. Here as  with every facelift, the biggest focus is on design. Most notably, the front end where the grille along with the headlamp cluster will be updated. Below the chrome grille, the XUV500 will also get a dual-tone faux skid plate, and a new design is expected for the DRLs along with upgraded projector headlamp units. The front and rear bumpers have been slightly tweaked as well.

The photograph of the rear shows that the tailgate design is new, with rounded edges. The tail lamp cluster too has been redesigned, with the old vertically stacked units being done away with. Those are now triangular in shape.

Mahindra will be offering diamond cut alloy wheels on the XUV500 facelift, although these might be offered only on the top spec petrol and diesel variants. The lower specs will get the regular designed alloy wheels.

Inside the new XUV500, the most obvious changes are the tan colour upholstery with cross stitching. The top spec model of the XUV500 facelift will also be offered with aluminium pedal in a bid to look and feel a little sporty. The dash is also expected to get better quality soft-touch plastics, while the centre console will get a piano black finish with faux aluminium trims.

Technology

The infotainment system on the New 2018 Mahindra XUV500 facelift will be updated, possibly offer smartphone integration. The 7-inch infotainment system which now offers Google Android Auto connectivity is expected to get Apple CarPlay as well. It should include features such as Android Auto, an integrated sat nav system, wireless telephony and audio streaming, and even a companion smartphone and smartwatch app BlueSense, Gaana, BookMyShow and other entertainment services. The top two trims are also expected to get electrically powered driver seat adjustment.

Powertrain

The most important change in the Mahindra 2018 XUV500 will be the addition of the updated 2.2-litre mHawk engine. Mahindra will offer both the 2.2-litre diesel engine and the 2.2-litre petrol engine as well. Mahindra already offers the 2017 Scorpio facelift with the the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel that currently powers the current XUV500 model in the 140PS/330Nm tune. The output of the updated engine, however, is likely to hover in the range of 170PS/360Nm. This engine will make the New 2018 Mahindra XUV500 more powerful.

A total of five diesel and six petrol variants are expected in the new XUV500, along with a six-speed automatic gearbox present in four diesel-powered variants.

CONCLUSION Mahindra XUV500 facelift 2018 that will come with updates to the exterior, the front end where the grille along with the headlamp cluster, a revamped tailgate and a new infotainment system and 2.2-litre mHawk engine.
