Apple will hold one of its biggest launches for the iPhone 14 series and there is already a tonne of information available on the market. To add to it, there’s a new piece of information concerning the upcoming series according to which, Apple is currently evaluating display panels sourced from BOE. Furthermore, it has asked Samsung Display to ship over 80 million OLED panels that will be used with the upcoming iPhone 14 series.
Citing people familiar with the matter, South Korea’s ETNews reports that mass production and delivery for the panels coming from Samsung Display are planned to begin in the third quarter of this year. The new iPhone family is expected to debut in the second half of the year, soon after the delivery of key components including OLED panels.
Apple is expected to launch two 6.1-inch sized models the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Pro. similar to last year. The brand is said to launch two 6.7-inch-sized models the iPhone 14 Max and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Some of these devices will use LTPS OLED panels and some will use LTPO OLED displays. We can expect Apple to use LTPO panels only on Pro models.
The iPhone 14 lineup will use LTPS-TFT-based OLED panels and LTPO-TFT-based OLEDs. It’s not clear which is intended for which models. In another recent report, Apple expected to use BOE OLED panels for the upcoming lineup as well. Apple is reportedly evaluating BOE’s OLED panels for the iPhone 14 lineup this week.
The Apple iPhone 14 Pro series is said to come with a dual punch-hole notched display which will include a pill-shaped cutout and a circular cutout. While the regular models will come with an iPhone 13-like notch.
