Hello everybody, This is Tanweer. Today i have interesting Tech News related to WhatsApp that it is raising its minimum age from 13 to 16 in Europe to help it comply with new data privacy rules that means WhatsApp will ask European users to confirm they are at least 16 years old when prompted to agree new terms of service in the next few weeks.
As we all know that WhatsApp, the popular messaging service owned by Facebook Inc, is banning under 16s from using its platform Whatsapp in the European Union. Presently it is not clear how the age limit will be verified. This Clearly means that it will ask the teenager to nominate a parent or guardian to give permission for them to share information on the platform.

You know what, WhatsApp is founded in 2009, which had more than 1.5 billion users in January according to Facebook, which has faced scrutiny for its end to end encrypted data sharing practices in the past, Whatsapp said its move would help it meet the New high standards of transparency in the EU.
Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the biggest overhaul of online privacy since the creation of the internet, which comes into force on 25 May, will give people much more control over how companies use their information. As part of these standards for the EU, WhatsApp’s new terms and conditions will require users to be of at least 16 years old.
Another important thing announced by WhatsApp, will allow users to download a report detailing the data that it holds on them, such as the make and model of the device they used, their contacts and groups and any blocked numbers.
CONCLUSION : New European data protection rules would see companies require parental consent to handle data of those under 16 years. This includes specific protections to protect children from having their personal data collected for marketing purposes, or to create user profiles. Outside of Europe, the minimum age for using WhatsApp will remain 13.
